Surf Coast offers so much more than tourism. I want the Surf Coast to stay the Surf Coast – with all its environment, amenity and character – supporting tourism but using the amenity and character to attract knowledge based jobs of the future while leaving our Surf Coast heart and soul intact. Tourism and future-focused jobs can co-exist. But CoVID has taught us we can’t rely on tourism alone.

My family and I have lived in SurfCoast for 20+ years and I have just retired from 30 years of executive positions in large corporates, managing complex projects and large groups of technical people. I hope to use this experience to implement this vision, building on what CoVID has taught us already, but to also increase the transparency, confidence and trust in the way the council functions.

I deeply value the extraordinary things a supported community can achieve. My community involvement includes three years on the board of a non-profit childcare centre, twenty years on boards of local Landcare groups, and three years as President of my daughter’s local sports club. I am also a regular runner (a slow one) and volunteer at Torquay Parkrun. In January, my partner and I organised the donation, collection and transport of 200t of fodder for bushfire relief into Corryong, Bairnsdale, and Abbeyard.

The world is changing fast. With your vote I can help guide the council to ensure that Torquay will evolve and grow in ways that leaves the Surf Coasts heart and community intact.
