A Walk In The Park Geelong Event Organiser Kirsten George spoke to the program about the 2021 event, which will go virtual.

“A Walk in the Park Geelong is an opportunity for families, friends, health professionals and the general community to come together to support each other and their loved ones as they face the daily challenges of living with Parkinson’s,” the group said in a statement.

“The volunteer Working Group were excited to host the event on Sunday 12 th September at Geelong’s Eastern Park Circuit, but the COVID-19 pandemic has meant a postponement.”

“Instead of missing this important fundraising opportunity, participants can join a virtual walk and are encouraged to share their efforts on social media.”

“Funds raised will support the work of Parkinson’s Victoria who provide a range of services to individuals, carers, families and the community. Over 27,000 people in Victoria have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s and approximately 38 new cases are diagnosed each day. It is the second most common neurological disease in Australia after dementia.”
