Quad bike fatalities require swift action: Maurice Blackburn

Tougher regulation and better rider training is urgently needed to reduce the number of quad bike deaths and injuries, according to Maurice Blackburn Lawyers.

In a submission to the quad bike safety investigation being carried out by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, the law firm has called for the development of a consumer safety ratings system for quad bikes, similar to Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) for other vehicles.

“Having a side-by-side comparison of the safety features of quad bikes at the point of sale will allow consumers to make informed decisions as to how they prioritise safety at the various price points in the market,” said Katie Minogue, a Maurice Blackburn personal injuries lawyer.
